Day 01: Arrive Chennai

As part of your wildlife in South India tour, arrive at Chennai airport and meet with our representatives who shall transfer you to the hotel. A half day city tour follows covering famous tourist attractions like Marina Beach, Kalakshetra, Kamraj Memorial house and national art gallery. Overnight at the hotel in Chennai.

Day 02: Chennai- Mettupalpyam

After breakfast drive to Vedanthangal Bird Sanctuary known for its rich population of rare animals & exotic birds, apart from a thick forestation. Located at a distance of about 50 kilometers from Chennai, the Vedanthangal Bird Sanctuary is especially known for its population of herons. Some popular migratory & resident birds in the reserve include garganey teals, shovellers, stilts and sandpipers. Later in the day, transfer to railway station to board the overnight train to Mettupalpyam with dinner on-board.

Day 03: Mettupalpyam- Mudumalai

Morning arrival at Mudumalai and meet with our representatives who shall transfer you to a wildlife lodge. Post lunch set out for the popular trekking expedition through the jungles of Mudumalai. This is followed by visit to nearby villages to observe their basic lifestyle devoid of all modern day facilities yet possessing a charm of its own. Overnight at the jungle resort in Mudumalai.

Day 04: Mudumalai

Morning and evening safari into the reserve accompanied by an expert naturalist. The sanctuary is home to a large number of wild animals including bonnet, tiger, wild dog, hyena, sloth bear, macaque and spotted dear. The sanctuary also has a sizeable population of birds. Overnight at the jungle resort in Mudumalai.

Day 05: Mudumalai - Bandipur - Mudumalai

After breakfast set out for a short excursion trip to Bandipur Wildlife Sanctuary located on the Mysore-Ooty Highway. Declared as one of India’s tiger reserves in the year 1973, a jungle safari within the park is a fascinating experience. Observe various wild animals from close quarters followed by return to Mudumalai for dinner & overnight stay.

Day 06: Mudumalai-Mukurthi

In the morning check-out from the resort for a drive to another famous destination-the Mukurthi Wildlife Sanctuary. Upon arrival check into the jungle resort and utilize rest of the time exploring the township. Overnight at the jungle resort in Mukurthi.

Day 07: Mukurthi

An interesting trekking expedition to Shola forest follows in the morning. This is followed by safari into the reserve which houses a sizeable wildlife population. Overnight at the jungle resort in Mukurthi.

Day 08: Mukurthi-Ooty

On Day 08 of your memorable journey, take a break from wildlife viewing to explore one of south India’s famous hill stations in Ooty. Upon arrival check into the hotel and explore the verdant surroundings of the hillock. Overnight at the hotel in Ooty.

Day 09: Ooty-Annamalai

Morning drive to Annamalai Wildlife Sanctuary to continue your wildlife experience. Annamalai is regarded as a heaven for wildlife lovers and its natural settings relieve the fatigue of the long journey. Overnight in the lodge at Annamalai.

Day 10: Annamalai Wildlife Sanctuary

Morning and evening safari into the reserve accompanied by an expert naturalist. Enjoy an elephant ride into the reserve followed by camping inside the forest range. Overnight at the lodge in Annamalai.

Day 11: Annamalai Wildlife Sanctuary

Today’s trip takes us to Anagundi and Varagaliarrain –the two famous forest range in the area. Adventure enthusiasts have several options like trekking, bird watching etc to explore the forests. Overnight at the lodge in Annamalai.

Day 12: Annamalai Wildlife Sanctuary - Munnar

Morning drive to Munar, one of Kerala’s famous tourist destination. Known for its rolling hills covered with snow and scenic coffee plantations, Munnar is indeed a heaven on earth. We shall also be visiting the Chinnar Sanctuary apart from an interesting sightseeing of Munnar. Overnight at the hotel in Munnar.

Day 13: Munnar-Periyar

After the captivating beauty of Munnar, we shall be exploring the rich wildlife population at Periyar. Drive to Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary follows and upon arrival check into the forest resort. A scenic Periyar Lake pass through the reserve, nourishing it and also serving as a source for boating. Proceed for a boat cruise upon the river which allows wildlife viewing from close quarters. Overnight stay at the resort.

Day 14: Periyar

Morning & evening safari into the reserve whose popular denizens include Elephant, Tiger, Jaguar and Wild Boar apart from Nilgai and Langur. You may also opt for boat rides allowing wonderful opportunity to spot the wild animals near the river banks. Overnight at the hotel in Periyar.

Day 15: Periyar-Cochin

Morning after breakfast drive to Cochin known as the Queen of Arabian Sea. Located in the expanse of Vembanad Lake, proceed for houseboat cruise upon its famous backwatsers followed by a full day city tour exploring the city & its tourist attractions including Santa Cruz Basilica, St. Francis Church, Mattancherry Palace, Bolghatty Palace and Cherai Beach. Overnight at Cochin hotel.

Day 16: Depart-Cochin

In the morning transfer to airport to catch flight for your onward/return destination.
